both colors are versatile in a vacuum
context is helpful: what other pants/shoes would you be you wearing with it?
I've 2 grey trousers, a navy and brown. 2 loafers and a debry all in a shade of brown.
without seeing pictures of the actual garments i think 1 > 2
both are fine if your heart is guiding you a different way
