Linux AMD driver won't do 4K
Just built a new system around a Sapphire Pulse RX 7900 XTX and figured I would try Bazzite.
However, the resolution options in-game for all the games I have tested (LAD Infinite Wealth, Cyberpunk 2077, FFXIV, BG3, a few others) max out at 1440p under Linux. Have tested dual-booting with Windows and the Windows side runs them at 2160p fine.
Is there a way to get the same resolution as Windows offers? Is this a driver problem?

I've had that issue when I set the desktop scaling to something different than 100%. I don't know if it's the same issue for you, but if it's not 100%, you could try setting it to that and see if it fixes it?

Obviously not ideal, but just to check 😅
Could it be related to the HDMI forum not allowing HDMI 2.1 in AMD's open source driver?

Are you able to test with Displayport?

HDMI Forum rejects AMD's HDMI 2.1 open-source driver
No 4K@120Hz and 5K@240Hz via HDMI 2.1 for Linux users with Radeon.
I think that's unlikely but still worth looking into imo of course.
Back when I used HDMI 2.1 directly with my 7900 XTX I had 4k@120hz options in both Gnome and KDE (outside of the game and in the game), though now I use a HDMI-DP adapter.
Have tried with DP as well as HDMI and had same issue. Will try the scaling option and see if that has any effect.
I had a similar issue when plugging into a television. I had to manually adjust the television settings into a gaming mode for it to let Linux know under Wayland that it is capable of 4k60. Worked fine on Windows, but I suspect that Linux is more ginger about what it will try to do with connected displays.
Looks like it was indeed the desktop scaling option. As previously stated, hardly ideal, but I can work with it. Thanks for the tip, @PrussianPrince
No probs, glad it worked.
Further note, I had that issue with Gnome but not with KDE - am guessing you're on Gnome, but if you have a KDE install as well you could check if using scaling doesn't exhibit the issue there.
Thanks, I'll try it with KDE and see if that solves it.
Update: KDE did indeed solve the issue. Thanks again for the help!
