trying to get 60hz 4k
so my computer has an rx 580 in and it works at 60hz 4k on windows over hdmi. on here over hdmi it caps out at 4k 30hz and on my dp to hdmi adapter it claims to be able to do 4k 30hz but just doesn't. i think doing it straight through hdmi is the best bet. it gives the option for 4k 60hz but when i apply it nothing happens. here is a video

You'll need to use DisplayPort, Linux does not support HDMI 2.1 for licensing issues, and as such you are stuck at HDMI 2.0 which can be limited at 4K
it doesnt work via a known working dp to hdmi adapter either which is annoying
online people have reported that to work fine
i manage to get 60hz in games that have a RR setting though...? do i still need to get a DP?
it's bandwidth based
if you're able to display it, you're good
if you find you have problems, chances are you've exceeded the bandwidth allowable by HDMI 2.0
and now need an alternative
so if i were to lower the color grading, would the option show up?
nvm for anyone trying to do a HTPC with Nvidia i recommend PopOS! with steam big picture
it just works
