The above question I think I found the answer as API's appear to be limited to 1200 requests/5 minutes for basically any API on cloudflare.

Bulk API would help minimize the amount of calls needed in case you can batch your writes, as you mention above
Yea, I ended up batching them, it just made the code a lot more complex sadly 😛
I definitely understand that, API rate limits are something that we're not immediately in control of so we're trying to figure out ways to get a better experience there
