update to latest and let us know if it happens
I found on desktop mode in screen setting something about adaptive Sync , changed Always in auto flickering atm go away .. hoping Is that problem (im not very lucky with Asus product)
I have VRR flickering on my desktop as well, but it only shows up after the display has gone to sleep and woken back up
I just found out about this
my screen flickers too top left and bottom.
ally x
I noticed it on elden ring
does this mean our device is defective?
No
After a few hours VRR (Bazzite) and Freesync (Windows) working again without corner brightness flickers (Top left/Bottom).
Don't know what to think lmao.
How is yours now? 🥹
Should I do something or what..
if you get an issue on windows, try to bug official support channels about it
not the first time windows issue shows up in bazzite
Additional info
It happens when AFMF icon tile is missing on sidemenu
Now it came back and VRR/Freesync working without brightness flickering.
So sometimes things like these happens?
well when enough people get it we will figure it out
I'm sure it's not a coincidence both the OP and I has experienced the brightness flickers when VRR(Bazzite)/Freesync(Windows) is on in the Ally X. Good thing @TheDarkSideOfCookies found out that it stops when it's on.
i smell its the display battery savings garbage @Kyle Gospo
Is that being applied by the bios in the background?
If that is the issue then I can breath knowing that its some kind of bug..
yeah im pretty sure its a bug
You mean the extreme standby mode toggle on AC?
please dont touch that
should be off
no
it's on by default, should I turn it off?
yeah
should be off actually
otherwise youre going to get sleep issues
in bazzite
got it, is it like the battery charging limit, being applied on the bios?
yes
bazzite disables it
but only on updates
got it, I thought this is the battery saving garbage you are mentioning. How about the modern standby assistant?
i dont think that affects much
no, theres an internal setting for saving power from the display
im not sure how its controlled
but if its activated maybe you'll get issues with vrr
Thank you for the info, that makes sense..
Because if its defective I think I should still get the brightness flickering even with the vrr/freesync off.

can you get this for me?You don't have it
So it's not that
Got it.
So far VRR (Windows) and Freesync (Windows) is working properly at the moment. So yeah don't know what happened to both me and the OP, both Ally X. Lmao.
I found out that the MCU might cause the issue and surprise, surprise there's a new updated for the MCU.
That's not true
I program the MCU, it is not related at all to the screen
The MCU manages the controller of the ally
They should ban chatGPT! 😅
I was really convinced lmao.
Chatgpt is really good at what it does
But atleast now it's working properly now with free sync on on windows and vrr on on bazzite. Hope @TheDarkSideOfCookies can share experiences.
misinformation is most dangerous when presented in a convincing manner
After disabled adaptive Sync on desktop mode seem flickering Is gone
Mine too it's gone when adaptive sync is turned off and after a day or a few restarts freesync/vrr is working again without flickers. Does yours looks like it flickers on corners/edge when it happened while it's turned on?
No matter what I do now I can't replicate it. Lmao.
I mean what was the flickers looks like on yours?
Just an update after more than 24h and playing continiously, it never came back even with vrr/freesync lmao.
Top and right screen flickering when close game or in game pause
Mine was top and left lmao. It never came back after that couple of restarts.
Has restarted maybe for 40+ times now and I can't really make it happen again lol.
Weird.
weird, mine still flickering at the bottom, adaptive sync is turned off
show your settings and screen.
Adaptive sync in desktop?
There are different types of flickers, you could show yours.
Does yours instantly come back once adaptive sync is turn on? You could still trigger it?
Never tryed 😅
I just had something similar happen on my Framework 16, and turning off adaptive sync worked!
for me, it was super weird though. I had slack open, and for whatever reason, the "flicker" was the contents of my slack window. It didn't matter if slack was actually open though. If I quit slack, it flickered slack. If I rebooted, it flickered slack
almost as if the flicker was a frozen snapshot of what was on the screen at the moment the issue started
@tulip 👆 since you find amusement in how many problems I've been having 😂
honestly I don't know why I'm the only FW to be experiencing this stuff on here tho. You'd think since it's supposed to be fairly homogenous hardware, this would be common
Nah don't worry it happened to my Ally X when vrr/adaptive sync's turned on and instanty goes away when turned off. Antheas told me that it's more of a driver thing, the reason why it happens because it sort of the driver is more updated on Windows than on Linux.

That's why It's not being triggered on my end while on Windows but on Linux it does.
