Started J2 recently and got spooked with the conflict of interest disclosure. How do you overcome the fear?

Not a lawyer, but usually those kinds of clauses are only exercised if a situation calls for it (meaning they're not policing for it). Usually it also get exercised when there can be damages proved from violation of that clause (or anything adjacent to it). Should be a highly improbable scenario for most people.And generally people just get fired. There hasn't been a concrete fail story reported on the discord/subreddit of someone actually facing real legal repurcussions past getting fired from 1 or 2 jobs.
