checking it out some more and will escalate it in a minute if needed
thank you
from what I can tell so far, it appears to be something on Vodafone's side

that still doesnt make sense. DNSSec seems to have an issue but the servers are resolving fine

THis is also the case for voxi.co.uk
https://dnsviz.net/d/vodafone.co.uk/responses/
also there have been no DNS changes from our end
it seems like their nameservers are having issues

1000 probes trying their 4 nameservers
all having mixed results
only about 25% actually succeeds
so far it really seems to be something on their side
Are you from Vodafone?
yes
ah I see
anychance we can connect off this thread?
I'm just a community volunteer, so I won't be able to do much for you
but looking at those RIPE Atlas reports I sent, its not something specific to 1.1.1.1
as even global probes are having issues connecting to your nameservers
If you think it's still needed, I can try to get someone's attention at Cloudflare
I would have expected some sort of a cache to cause the other nameservers to respond back with a result
however, cache busting 8.8.8.8 and retrying still seemed to help resolve
about 25% of the probes seem to be able to resolve successfully with the nameservers, so my guess would be that 8.8.8.8 is just one of those lucky few and immediately caches the result
Seems to resolve intermittently now
yep, looks like the nameservers are fixed
ran another RIPE Atlas test, and they're pretty much all good

just trying to see if there is a log when cloudflare last refreshed caches
There was no change done from our end
Trying to get a RCA
(if any of these sound rookie, it's cause it actually is - i'm sadly not from networks. Trying to personally understand what went wrong)
It looks like we were unable to connect to the nameservers in the given timeframe
Might be the result of network issues
Thanks all - you've been of massive help. Issue seems to have resolved globally now 😄
