steam won't start: symbol lookup error

when i run steam, it won't start. running it from the terminal produces the following output:

try deleting ~/.local/share/Steam and re-launching if you have games installed, rename it instead so you can copy them back over after you confirm if that fixes it

ujust fix-reset-steam will reset steam and keep your data (games, saves, etc)
