What do I choose with a dual GPU laptop?
Hi there. I have a laptop with an integrated and dedicated GPU. My integrated one is Vega (6?) from the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H laptop processor.
My dedicated one is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Laptop (aka mobile) GPU, don't confuse with desktop
I put it in bigger text for people who don't wanna read all of this
I don't know what "primary GPU" means. I have lots of experience with Linux, over years, but I don't know what they mean by this. My "primary" gaming GPU is GPU 0, the GTX 1650 in my task manager. But the primary GPU that controls what the screen outputs (aka my actual primary GPU) is my integrated GPU.
So, should I choose NVIDIA or AMD? I think NVIDIA since the kernel has built in (I believe) AMD drivers, but I wanna make it sure

Answer: You can't run Gaming Mode on a NVIDIA GPU with Bazzite. Either disable it or don't use gaming mode

Reason why I'm asking this is because I saw people have black screen errors on SteamOS
primary meaning dgpu
so, pick nvidia
Note that you won't have steam gaming mode, but people with dual GPU laptops reported success if you disable it
damn steam gaming mode is one of the reasons im installing this
and probably the biggest oner
one
is there a way to get steam gaming mode to work
except for disabling
wait a minute
hm
thinking
not on nvidia, no
i mean
my iGPU controls the screen
we don't make an image that has both nvidia drivers and gamemode
you will have to go elsewhere
damn wait
how about
wait a minute
Oh wait
I meant disabling the dgpu
If that wasn't clear
yes i know
but
if i disable the dgpu my performance
will be really bad
right, so your only options are
1: Don't have gamemode
2: Don't use bazzite
damn
wait im gonna
think of something r
q
if i dont im gonna mark this post as solved
or delete it
And 3: Don't use the gpu
I have a question
how does steam gaming mode work
is it just an overlayed version of big picture
it's steam as a session powered by gamescope
there is no desktop in the background
and it has more features than BPM
if you're thinking "What if I just run BPM on a desktop image"
Dr. Download

SteamOS Runs on NVIDIA GPUs Now!
NVIDIA drivers now support Wayland display compositor, meaning gamescope will now work on NVIDIA GPUs.
wait what
it runs like diarrhea on Nvidia
is this related at all
to bazzite or not
no, this is meaningless
hm
cool
i'll mark the post as solved then
sorry for wasting your time lmao
never had any experience with gaming mode or steamdecks
uh
how do i do it
Gaming mode is quite picky, which is one reason steamos never publically released outside of steamdeck
hold on
