does bulking affect the clothes that you buy long term?
hey everyone, i'm slowly building a shopping list. how do you deal with buying clothes if you know you might need to overhaul everything since you're going up in weight? is there a way to future proof clothes that you buy somehow?

probably the "best" way is to buy stuff you can later resell so you're not taking on much of a loss
otherwise it's either buying things with low cost (e.g. thrifting) or things that are oversized currently that you'll grow into
or wearing a bunch of things with spandex or drawstring or other forms of adjustment
It depends entirely on your goals tbh. If you aren't planning a significant gain, then keeping an eye on your measurements and making purchases slowly over a longer period of time should suffice.
I just finished a long-term bulk/cut cycle that saw me gaining ~115lbs over the course of about 4 years. I was consistently swinging between sizes, purging my closet as I sized out of things, and slowly buying new clothes as needed. It's a dramatic example but my goal was body recomp and not fashion, which at a certain point is a decision that you have to make for yourself, pragmatically.
There was no future proofing for me lmao, I let go of that idea as soon as I set my goals.
Drawstring pants are the goat tho.
i didn't have a "long term bulk" so much as i lost and gained 80 lbs twice in the span of like 3 years. drawstrings were great, as was/is thrifting so i wouldn't feel as bad if i later donated something that didn't fit or didn't suit me
