Should I switch hosting services?
So rn I have a premium 4gb server with ggservers and I'm playing on forge 1.20.1 with about 10 mods. My main issue is when I'm exploring new areas the chunks generate very slowly. Also at least once every 15 minutes the server says cant keep up overloaded ~2000ms

you need to pregen the server
add this mod to your server
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/chunky-pregenerator-forge
after the server is restarted you need set a radius of your pregen ex
/chunky radius 5000 5000
then
/chunky start and leave it overnight
it might take a whole day if your cpu is slow but after you pregen your world you should have no issues

this sounds like exactly what I need. What radius would you recommend since I'm playing with some exploration type of mods? Also do you happen to know how it works for different dimensions?
how big do you want the world to be ?
well I think I want it pretty big because I'm playing the alex's caves mod which spawns these rare caves that are usually really far away
also is there any downside to making it really big?
depends
how much storage you got
it says unmetered
but also I went to download chunky and I can only find versions for either 1.20 or 1.20.4 but I'm playing 1.20.1
ig i will see if the 1.20 version works
modrinth site is a lot better
https://modrinth.com/plugin/chunky/versions?g=1.20.1&l=forge
The only downside with pregenerating a lot is storage space. If you have enough, pregen as much as u can.

try 1.20
oop
modrinth says it works for 1.20-1.20.4 so this should work
I suppose I should mark this as solved now but I forgot how
