1.20.4 Pufferfish - spontaneous lag
Have been having mystery ping spikes that spontaneously come and go, usually in EST evening and don't seem related to server player count: we can be having up to 30 players in dungeons and/or fighting and moving around and be fine, and on slower days the server will start spazzing with 15 people seemingly out of nowhere.
We have just upgraded our Pufferfish hosting plan, so we are quite distraught with this mystery issue. Will be thankful for any tips/pointers as to what the issue might be and how to fix it!
Spark profiler from today, the moment when lag started occurring can be seen by the sudden player drop: https://spark.lucko.me/lNzi7AUFJD

No lag in that spark report, but consider moving to ZNPCsPlus (latest dev build) as citizens is laggy.
Don’t worry, ZNPCsPlus has an importer for citizens!
You should make another profiler through
/spark profiler start --only-ticks-over 51
and run it for a while, ensure it’s running while you have at least one lag spike.
Then stop it once you’re done and send it herelag when you have pufferfish+ def make a ticket with kevin
its his fork and offers specialized help
that too
Hm, so the server was fine? Everyone in tab got +500 to their ping and kept getting kicked
Could that indicate network issue, perhaps?
possibly.
I’d talk to Kevin
