If we do one fulltime job and other is C2C. Can the fulltime employer find out if they do periodic
If I am doing a fulltime J1 and take J2 on C2C and get paid on 1099. Will the J1 employer find out if they do Periodic Back Ground checks?

if you're c2c, you're paid by your own LLC

There is always risk, but much less likely than second W2

if you yourself are integrating with TWN (your company) then sure they can
just freeze your TWN lol

I wonder if your J gets a notification when you freeze TWN, or if you just fall off their reports.
Kind of a lowkey flex. "Hey John, it looks like we are no longer able to spy on your personal life, you mind turning that back on?"

If there is a second w2, how big risk is it? Employer is asking they will keep me on w2 for couple of months. I am worried about it. They are saying it won't be a risk
I am at good position in J1 and would not want to risk for J2

I'm confused. Why would the only keep you on W2 for a couple of months?

I think it is a clinet requirement

In any case, freeze your TWN, and you reduce the risk by a lot.
OE comes with inherit risk. You have to accept that.
But i f you freeze your TWN, it seems to prevent most failure cases.
This is all anecdotal, no one is collecting stats. TD tries to collect fail stories, and the community does a gut check.
And that is the best you can hope for.

What if if I do one fulltime and other on 1099. Is there same risk as two w2 or more or less?
foreign-sapphire•4mo ago
I'm not sure tbh. Feels like it would be safer.
I haven't heard of companies reporting their 1099 contractors to TWN, but I've been wrong before.

ok
deep-jade•4mo ago
it's slightly better from a process standpoint
but from a "risk" standpoint negligible
your 1099 job can always check back and call your previous J if they suspect you didn't leave

Ah ya, this. J2 finding out about J1 is the most common fail case.
wise-whiteOP•4mo ago
In my case my J2 won't call my J1. They know that I am OE
deep-jade•4mo ago
then you should be ok in this case

I am worried about J1 finding out, if they do periodic BG

freeze your TWN and they will not know 95% of the time

Are companies doing periodic Background checks?
any idea? and what are the companies that do periodic background checks?
foreign-sapphire•4mo ago
It's hard to know. People have reported it.
My guess is that it is still an uncommon practice.
Companies have limited resources, and periodic background checks cost time and money.
But your risk goes up if you work in a highly regulated industry.
wise-whiteOP•4mo ago
ok
If you are already in J1 and join J2 (J2 knows about OE), will two w2s be an issue? J2 is consulting company and you work for client. Client won't do any background checks as far as I know. What is the risk of having two w2s in this case?
TWN is TheWorkNumber right? Can you please help me on how to freeze it

I am not sure. Now I am asking them to keep on C2C only. So If I work on C2C and 1099 can issued someone else name in my fanily right? That way my name is no where to be seen?
deep-jade•4mo ago
i think that might be too paranoid
what you want is them to c2c with your LLC
your LLC still employs you
your name as owner is still attached to LLC
what are you trying to solve with this method?
let's make sure that's solidfied first, what your use case , fears, and goals are
and then we can assess best strategy
