Installing gnome-shell in KDE version of Bazzite for VR (XR)
Hi all, firstly thanks for the great distro! I am using a Steam Deck like device, Aokzoe A1 Pro, on Bazzite. The Decky XR plugin works flawlessly. However I also want to use it in the Desktop mode for extended virtual display. I use the KDE version of Bazzite with fedora atomic. That means it is a read only system and not as easy to get writable system compared to Steam Deck. I was trying to follow the workarounds (dnf, rpm-ostree even VirtualBox etc.) as described here to be able to install gnome-shell over KDE as suggested in the non-gnome-setup. I couldn't succeed. Any recommendation to get gnome-shell installed over KDE version of Bazzite? Thanks a lot!

Installing and Managing Software on Bazzite
Hi, Brew and Fleek are part of the upstream Universal Blue images. You can virtually use both in the same manner on most of the popular images (main, nvidia, bluefin, etc.) To answer your questions in order about the Bazzite images: No. Desktop images have Nvidia variants, but not the Steam Deck/HTPC and other handheld PC images do NOT hav...

Just for the sake of completenes, I will not be running Gnome desktop, I will only launch it in the nested GNOME Shell as a workaround so that my VR glasses (Xreal Air) will function as a virtual monitor.
Did rpm-ostree not work?
Unfortunately it didn't: Here is the error I got:
sudo dnf install also gives me the same error: '
error: Checkout gnome-control-center-46.3-1.fc40.x86_64: Hardlinking ca/f9968a789692fa284b6ebfc40cd16d5351287e7abf7079799bde0290bfa5f4.file to bicycle.jpg: File exists

Best way to accomplish this would be a custom image
and IIRC GNOME does not work nested, at all
OK, thanks.
Hi, so no go for breezy-desktop for bazzite?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bazzite/comments/1dkvvl5/gnome_tweaks_on_bazzite/ seems others also having the same issue

thanks trying now
will see if I can breezy installed and working
@Kyle Gospo
you need to install that on your host in home
got gnome-shell into distro box
scrip the script
then it'll work via gnome-tweaks
u mean outside of distrobox?
yes
for the theme
that is what i get if i try that script out side distrobox
script isn't immutable aware
you'll need to install the theme manually
it is not a theme... it is an app to allow xr glasses to work better in linux
similar to nebula or space desk in windows

ah, confused by breeze
you'll need it in a form that isn't a script
a package
seems that is the only way to install for now
breezy desktop has appeared as a loadable app in bassite start
no it didn't
breezy_vulkanverify says it is ok, but not breezy+desktop_verify
then this is a dead end
you cannot install it.
oh u tried as well?
so close as well
you cannot install an arbitrary script that writes to the root file system in an atomic os
still getting my head around this atomic OS
@Kyle Gospo thx for your help though
still trying to get gnome-shell working inside distro box with no avail .. any help is appreciated
hi Kyle, I may shoot an email to this author about this, what kind of package would be needed to get something like this working in Bazzite Desktop KDE? like a .rpm package instead of a script like he has it?
or is it possible to rebase to a custom image with this software included, from bazzite desktop kde?
still nothing on how to get gnom-shell working inside bazzite kde...
