Pants sizing when wearing them at natural waist
I recently realized that I prefer how I look when I wear pants at the natural waistline (near the bellybutton) as compared to how I have been wearing them so far (at my hips). Finding pants that don't slip down has been somewhat challenging.
Leaving aside the issue that different brands have different measurements, assuming that you can look at the waist measurement in the size guide, how should one go about sizing pants that fit properly? Do you folks have a thumb rule of the sort: waist circumference X, pants waist circumference Y?
I have a bit of a belly (~40 inches at the waist). I have traditionally worn pants with a 34" waist, and while I can stretch them over the waist, they slip down easily. Pants with 40" waist don't fit well at all. 38" and 36" fit well (38 feels a bit loose), but they all slip down to the hips if I jump or walk with exagerrated impact. Help!
