Couple Quick Questions About Starting a Server
I'm starting a minecraft server for a couple of my buddies. It's only going to be a couple people, like 6-8, so nothing too big. I just had a couple questions about how to start it, I've run servers in the past but it was pretty simple vanilla minecraft for 2-3 people.
1. I want to have a border. I want players to be able to pvp eachother and raid eachothers bases. What size border would be best? 2000x2000? Even smaller?
2. What performance mods are best to add to Fabric to make it as least laggy as possible? I will be using playit.gg to allow people to connect and GeyserMC so bedrock players can join. I've heard about Lithium and was going to use that, any other good ones?
3. Are there any ways to remove items? I'd like to ban Netherite Armor, Elytras, and Shields, feels like they make combat really boring. Is there any mods/commands I can use to do this?
4. Would it be nessecary to load the chunks before I start the server? I've heard of this before but I"m not sure if I need to do it. Is it recommend for a server of this size? If so how do I do it?

1. If you want them to be close together, 2-3k is fine. Make sure you pregenerate! Use a mod called Chunky. Pregenerating is where you generate all the chunks in a specific radius, since generating chunks is REALLY heavy and pregenerating removes that.
2. Lithium, FerriteCore, MemoryLeakFix if on 1.20.4 or below, Starlight if on 1.19 or below, Connectivity, Clumps
3. https://modrinth.com/mod/item-blacklist may be of use?
4. See what I said in the first point (1). It’s a very essential step to ensure you have less lag.
As for point 2 do you mean 1.21 or below? Or should I look for other mods if I want to make it a 1.21 server?
in 1.20.5 and onwards, I believe Minecraft fixed the things that MemoryLeakFix resolved in lower versions
in 1.20 and onwards, they made improvements to the lighting engine so starlight is now obsolete
so don’t worry about them
