NVIDIA 555 x11 Bug: Resume From Suspend Not Working

Hello folks, has anyone else experienced issues with 555 Nvidia drivers and display/video card not properly coming up from sleep in x11 mode? I have seen some posts regarding this on Discourse: https://universal-blue.discourse.group/t/nvidia-555x-bugs/3270 Wayland seems to be working fine, aside from Firefox crashes, and the regrettable absense of VRR support for Pascal cards. Does anyone by any chance know of a way to rollback just the drivers to the 550? I quite like Plasma 6.1 =] (reposting here from #🎮bazzite channel)

you cannot rollback "just the drivers", they are part of the whole system image. unless there is an image where there was mostly just the drivers being updated. however due to the security key being replaced in early July, you are locked to images from July and onwards

Out of curiosity , how is image layering set up in Universal blue? If I recall correctly nvidia drivers are distributed out of kernel so it could theoretically be possible to overlay an older version. Although I have a hunch this is only possible with custom builds unless rpm-ostree can handle such an overlay.

Yes, also have the issues, had to pin 40.20240717, anything newer and suspend/resume is broken in different ways. https://discord.com/channels/1072614816579063828/1264985971108089978

I have accepted my fate, and just went with Wayland for the time being, it looks like Firefox Nightly does not crash. Alas no VRR, but I can live with that for now. Looks like a newer update of NVidia drivers 560.31.02 has introduced VRR for pascal cards in Wayland, although it seems to be occasionally glitching out to the moon:

I will keep adding my findings on this thread, will see today if the new drivers still cause issues with X11 suspend. I did notice the 560 was doing something about modeset in release notes That said I can not (as much as I want to) fully blame NVidia here, 555 and 560 are still technically not marked as stable being New Feature Branch and Beta at the time of writing =]
