What could save this fit?
Like why's it giving trump assassin vibes? Attempt at fixing it included too but oof.
Maybe bleach tie dyeing the shirt would help break up the huge color blocks of the fit, and not make the fabric so preppy vs the jewelry.

top half and bottom half clash imo
in terms of the style/vibe of the garments, not so much the color
the sunglasses/chain/watch give a level of deliberateness that's kind of undone by the sort of 'default choice' shorts and sneakers
linen shorts/pants and loafers would pair well here I feel

Honestly I would go with shorter or much longer shorts
Retro style athletic shorts if shorter and jorts or cargo shorts if longer

If you want to go streetwear with it, 017 shop has good (sometimes a little over the top) styling of black tees. Some are graphic tees but the idea can be the same.
For what it’s worth I like the top half in both cases, and agreed that the bottom is kind of default
