what is cn was replaced by oh-?
Non polar :) this was an old jee main q
Sp hyb vs sp3
yeah i got that part but
...
polar cus the there is difference bw electronegativity of OH- and CN and they will pull with unequal magnitudes
i meant this compound

Ab polar hoga
Dono OH ka lone pair opposite side h
In this I get why a and b are non polar

CL Cl ka Dipole moment kaat dega or CN ka bhi same case
OH islie Non polar h kyuki jo lone pairs hai wo opposite side lie krege ek dusre ke
why?
For minimum repulsion
ek second draw krke dikhata hu

Ye ek dusre ko cancle ni kr payega
so this is just how the compound is made, to minimize the repulsion as mr makhana said
Yeah
what will be the direction of dipole moment vectors here
can you show them in the diagram
Let me try
Actually this One is the Trans form but single bond ke about free rotation hota hai to wo cis form me bhi convert hota rehta hai islie net dipole moment kabhi zero ni ata 1 Benzene 1,4 diol ka

My teacher taught this
I think it's correct
same goes for the sh one ?
Sulphur me 2 lp hote hai to i think waha pr always hi Dipole moment zero hota hai
but thats not the answer...
Yeah my bad the logic that i gave for Benzene 1,4 diol also applies for Benzene 1,4 dithiol
due to different conformations or free rotation u can say dipole moment ≠0
i hvnt stuided all of this free rotation and stuff so ig ill let it pass for now and remember it like that
Yeah ye isomerism me aayega but yes abhi ke lie aisa samjh sakte ho ki jo lone pairs hai wo ek jagh pr freeze nhi hai they can rotate about their bond
oh damnn, btw can u check the s charac thread once
Ok
