Device Active error when trying to install Bazzite
Hi
I'm currently facing some issue with installing Bazzite onto my ally x, when I get to bit to start the install after making my user account and selecting the drive it comes with an error stating "device is active" then when I reset, windows is borked and I have to recover from the cloud.
I have fast boot and secure boot turned off, I have turned off bit locker on the device and held shift during shutdown and used cmd to get a 'true' shutdown as advised on other posts but non of this has worked.
Is anyone aware of something else I might be doing wrong or that could be causing this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as each restore takes about an hour and I'm banging my head against a wall
TIA

did you turn off fastboot in windows or in the bios?
Both, first in power settings in windows then confirmed in the bios
Just add context this is what I see in the install destination, I've not run it now but when its said there is no space and I've reclaimed it the last 3 times it's given me the same error
Haven't tried again yet, wanted to try and figure out a cause first
sorry for the slow reply, I'd been at it most of the evening and headed off to bed
You sure bitlocker is off?
Since you're deleting everything, you could try using the command line instead in Linux (As I wrote in other posts here)
pretty sure, I ran it command to turn it off and the bitlocker option in control panel disappeared
I don't have any other OS installed other than windows at the moment, so how would I use the command line in linux?
also if it makes any difference to finding a solution, I'm not wanting to dual boot
By pressing Ctrl+Alt+F3, you can access the command line
Lemme copy what I wrote
Open Bazzite
Press Ctrl Alt F2 to go to the terminal
Type cgdisk /dev/nvme0n1 to see your drive
Delete everything
sorry, maybe I'm being thick at moment, but Bazzite isnt installed, its literally on a usb ready to install, so how can I open it?
Open the installer I mean
ahhhh
cool one min
After I delete everything do I just go back to the installer as normal?
I think its fine, but you should reboot just to be safe
Will do, also this is going to sound incredibly stupid but I'm pretty new to Linux once I get into it how do I delete stuff?
Down arrow once
You can't delete free space after all
Thank you I'll give it to go now and if it doesn't work our store from the cloud and get back to you in an hour 🤣
Oh yeah and write
Forgot to mention
Write what sorry?
On the line below, the rightmost word
Done that, rebooting now
Holy shit that looks like it's worked it's actually doing the install now
Don't want to jinx it but thank you so much
I got it working by using Windows installer and Format everything . It install now
That's a new way
@Kasher_CS it's worked, just restarted after setting up bazzite
Thank you again
