how much heel slippage in cowboy boots is normal?
Also is there anything else to thing about in terms of fit with cowboy boots? I found a vintage pair but I think they're just a bit too big

I've read that somewhere between half to an inch and a half of slip at the heel is to be expected
The important things to check from what I read when I got a pair is that;
There's a solid "thunk" when your heel hits the bottom on the boot when putting them on, and that your foot isn't sliding forward into the front of the boot at all
However that advice was aimed at new boots with the expectation that the heel will break in and cup the heel in doing so and reduce slip
I don't know how that translates (if it does) to a second hand pair
