Ally X Caldigit TB3 dock not working
Hi all,
I am having an issue getting my Caldigit dock working with my Ally X running Bazzite (Gnome desktop). I validated that this worked with Windows just fine out of the box and it has continued to work with my various devices that I switch in and out of the dock, so I rule out a hardware issue in that sense.
What currently happens is that when I connect the USB4 port to the dock: the screen shows a blank desktop with a background (expected from a second screen), but none of the USB components connected to the Dock work. I have a mouse/keyboard/headset connected and they are all dead (no rgb, no response at all). Notable the dock is connected to a KVM through a display port, and the KVM has my actual USB devices (through a USB C 3.1 connector) attached. I've connected a mouse directly to the dock and no dice: attaching the same mouse directly to the device works fine.
I've checked in Gnome settings that the Caldigit dock is Authorized, and it is. I also tried "forget devices" then disconnecting and reconnecting: that did not fix the issue.
What are some of the steps I can take to troubleshoot and fix this?
Note that I use a simpler USB-C dock (not Thunderbolt, just PD passthrough and additional USB ports), attaching the exact same hardware (keyboard/mouse/headset) works just fine.
Another note: initially, when I first connected my Ally to the Dock the behaviour was the same, but the internal display was flipped upside down. This only happened when I just freshly install Bazzite and got booted in to desktop.

A quick note on this, after some research it looks like it's some known "issue" (behaviour?) that if you connect a dock while in the OS the USB bits won't behave as expected. However if the dock is connected on boot up: it should work. It did work for me, though it's odd that somehow the drivers can't line themselves up to actually function as hot pluggable.
