if direction doesnt matter for speed, why are we subtracting N1 and N2???

im self learning concepts me zyada clarity nahi hai, i thought since speed and distance doesnt depend on direction u will add total distance around circumference and divide it by time

so change in theta karne pe u need to subtract the angles in opposite directions?
