Anyone here use an assistant? Either in-person or virtual. How has the experience been? What do you have them do? How much do you pay them?

@Cram @workingthemarks has had positive experiences with using admin assitant for non-work stuff. If that's what you're asking about.

I pay an assistant from the phillipines $5/hr to handle paperwork tasks for me. Things that I wrote a process for and give to them.
Various tasks have included:
- Handle all of the scheduling logistics for interviews
- Contact contractors to schedule quotes
- Pay a weekly daycare bill (i have a credit card saved on the site)
- Submit pet insurance claims
- Complete employee training modules (requires a tinypilot/piKVM)
It requires a mindset shift and paying attention to the things you do and outlining the specific steps to delegate.
Right now i'm working on figuring out how they can submit expense reports for one of my Js, but I have to write that process down.
if anything, my problem atm is that i don't have enough work for them to do! So i'm paying a 5hr/week retainer to keep them around.

you're not worried they'll steal your cc info?

CC is saved on the site, they don't know the number

they can't look?

@workingthemarks How did you find them and was it hard to find a good one?
Some advice I heard that made sense to me is just set up a camera and record yourself doing it, explaining out loud as you go. They said recording yourself 3 times is generally enough to show your assistant most variations of the job.
Seems easier than writing down the process.

i do both. write the process then give a video demo.
i like writing things out, so that works for me

I did have to craft an interview process, but they have guides on the site to explain how that works.
