American Trench Cotton Linen Shorts Quick Review
I've never been much of a "shorts" guy so this summer I decided to experiment a little bit more and branch out.
I gravitate less to the hoochie-daddy, super tight around the thighs look, and most of what I've been looking at has
been with a longer inseam and decidedly slouchier.
This week I picked up the American Trench Cotton Linen short after eyeballing them for a bit, so here
are my general first impressions for anyone else who may be interested in them:
These come in three different colors: Natural, Navy, and Taupe.
I ordered the Natural colorway and my immediate thought was that the shorts seemed more than a touch darker than the
product photos. In addition, the label on my shorts said "Bone", not Natural. After emailing their customer support
I was informed that these are indeed the correct shorts.
As for sizing, I picked up the large pair. There is no sizing information on their website besides giving the model's
measurements, which prompted another email to customer support to ask for sizing. According to them, the large pair
corresponds to a 34. My own measurements upon arrival measure a bit over 16", so 32" in total. The waistband DOES stretch
significantly, and at 36/37" I felt comfortable without any sliding down of waistband.
Build quality is great on these. Stitching and interlocking have no noticeable or very very minor flaws.
The fabric is a 55% 45% Linen Cotton, and is VERY lightweight.
There is no stiffness and it gives really nicely to any kind of force applied to them, "pooling" really well.
Overall a very wearable pair of shorts. Nothing incredibly over the top special besides a little thicker waistband.
Maybe having pleats would have added some overall visual interest but I really don't have too much to complain over.
Here are a couple of photos of some quick around the house fits I threw together with them.
