A personal fix to computer completely crashing/freezing mid game
Rather than a question, this post is my personal fix on how to fix your computer crashing mid game and having to hold the power button to restart it.
1. Launch Powershell or Command Prompt (AS ADMIN) and run the command:
- Disables fast startup which improves computer performance (search and refer to reddit for more details and info).
2. Right click the valorant shortcut (/open file location, right click on valorant) and go to properties. From there, you want to go to the "Compatibility" tab and checkmark the following options:
- "Disable fullscreen optimizations"
- "Run this program as an administrator"
Additionally, in the in-game settings, set your Valorant display settings to "Windows Fullscreen" which makes it less laggy/buggy when tabbing in and out.
If none of these fixes work, a last resort is to: in your Window's "Settings," follow the path: 'System' > 'Display' > 'Graphics' > 'Change Default Graphic Settings' and turn OFF the two options that are present ("Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" & "Optimizations for windowed games").
ā¼ļø š : Disabling HAGS (Hardware-accelerated-GPU scheduling) will almost definitely fix the problem, however it causes other problems and has its downsides.

Also, don't include the actual dollar sign in "$ powercfg -h off"; that just represents the line of text infront of where you put your commands in (or the blinking white rectangle).
thanks for this! but i think the only real fix is disabling HAGS and that unfortunately has its own downsides for example disabling some things like frame generation in some games š

Note: First your changing the shortcut for valorant not the exe, next please don't run val as an admin.
could you explain? it worked for me so i'm not sure of the differences
If you try to open Valorant through riot games it will not use that shortcut. Meaning that the changes you made to the compatibility tab won't do anything. That specific shortcut you changed his only used if you execute the game through the start menu
