i have ideas but if i may ask what do you think about the fit? what do you like, what do you dislike? and were you going for a specific vibe?

I’d add to zeometers question, what do you want to say with this fit. What is the vibe you’re going for

Well, I like my jean jacket a lot. I wear it pretty much everyday. It's a piece that's very customized so I like that part. I also think it ties into my ac/dc which is a band I really like I wear those jeans all the time because... I guess they're my current favorite pair of pants (I need to buy more jeans :')) and I like to wear jeans. I like the rugged/rustic feeling of wearing them and they feel versatile Those shoes are also shoes I've been wearing everyday cause I think they kinda give off that rocker/punk vibe that kinda ties in my shirt and pants, and also they're one of my only pairs that aren't like super beat up and are easier on my feet for long periods of time Also I like to wear hats πŸ™‚ because I'm lazy and rush in the mornings Also hats are just cool, I wear trucker hats, baseball caps, beanies a lot No beanies now because it's summer and I'd die lol. But in the winter and fall I wear them more often Oh right and my watch. I like (digital) watches bc they look cool but they're also more of a practical thing for me because I'm in situations where I can't look at my phone to get the time + I have general time management issues LOL. So it helps to be able to get the time faster and efficiently I think that's everything ya. o7 So I'd say the general vibe is just like casual punk stuff yknow. giving that youth vibe like if someone saw me I'd want them to think "oh that person's into rock/rock subcultures but casual about it rn"

i think the elements of rock and punk come across well πŸ™‚ the jacket is cool and i think in general the pieces go together well, even the shoes imo the biggest area of opportunity would be getting a different pair of jeans - perhaps a lighter wash, less tapered, maybe even distressed or raw hemmed - to give it a more "lived in" effect if this is meant to be a work fit where you can't wear clothes falling apart, then maybe black jeans (again, less tapered) instead. the taper thing is personal preference of course, but it's common to see a wider leg in pants these days, as a reboot of things like 90s skate culture.

:0 yeah I've been wanting to get some a lighter pair of jeans Yeah LOL it's a work fit. But yeah I get what you mean, baggy jeans and stuff are indeed a part of skater culture which is apart of the vibe too a little. I have black jeans so I will try and re-do the fit at a later time and post it with the black jeans

admittedly it's easier to field this look in fall or winter when it's cooler out; rotating the pants/tee out would be an easy way to change up the fit
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
True, it's harder in the summer (hence the rolled up jacket sleeves lol) but I still try and make it work
zeometer
zeometerβ€’4mo ago
might be able to switch out the jacket for an overshirt or button down; put some of the buttons on and you're good

ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
How about like a shirt jacket? I have a green canvas one πŸ€”

shirt jacket would be cool

I think if you want to take it up another level with the punk style you could try adding more β€œstuff” (for lack of a better word). Just using this pic as an example, it’s got a bunch of decorative features: zips, chains, dangly bits, etc

I'm trying to think of other people that dress kind of punk-y around here oddly Damb is coming to mind again (I feel like he just fits so many styles)
Shrimp
Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
I think a wider/baggier leg with good flow is something that would really help
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
Ohh this is true, I've wanted a chain loop thing for a while It'd be cool to wear esp because it's like a one and done thing but still pretty efficient at sending that message The person In the photo also is wearing their keys on their belt loops, which is also something I tend to do more often now :] This is a pretty cool outfit, imo to me it's leaning more into the workwear vibe but the darker colors feel punk So I still see that Also I wanted to ask (I might make this into a separate post later not sure) but is there a specific reason why like skinnier jeans weren't mentioned? I know they wouldn't fit me LOL but I guess I'm a bit surprised they weren't mentioned bc skinny jeans are sort of associated with like I wanna say the 2000s and 2010s punk/emo rock scene Like in this photo They're not super skinny here but they're not very baggy either Well I wouldn't call them skinny at all really but yknow. It hugs the leg more n all πŸ€”

those look like a regular slim fit to me, besides the cinches at the bottom ur deffo right about the skinny jeans association. I think they weren't recommended because that cut is off trend, so unless you're specifically trying to recreate that era of punk you can update the silhouette
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
True, I mostly just go with whatever I think looks cool and fits my vibe + the vibe Im going for I say this cause I don't know if I really follow the trend of pants like that (or I am and I just don't know it LOL) I like the vibes of workwear and americana and thats also part of the reason why I like dressing in a general rock/punk/grunge etc way because those things are inherently connected, which is very cool :]
Shrimp
Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
to add onto this too, I think we keep recommending it because we think it'll look better and your outfit will look more balanced skinny jeans are really hard to pull off because they can quickly lead to your outfit being really top heavy
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
Ohh I understand. that makes sense, cause like leather jackets and jean jackets and vests etc can be way less close to the body then skinny jeans ^this was meant to send to ur previous statment lol

by doing this, you can balance out the silhouette a bit more, but that shouldn't stop you from bringing in that same style jean jacket/personalized pieces band shirts jeans casual canvas shoes
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
Oh wait what was the text u had sent before with the pictures
Shrimp
Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
oh, sorry
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
I didnt get a chance to read it 😒
Shrimp
Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
compare the two silhouettes the balance of your outfit is really important to the overall look skinny jeans very quickly make outfits feel really top heavy but by bringing out some wider pants, you can balance it out without sacrificing the same style
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
oo okay I understand better now Balance... :catnod:
Shrimp
Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
(you can use your arrow keys to switch between the two outfits) ((if you are on a computer)) btw I love that emoji the cat nod

ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
he do... Thank u for the visual reference btw its very helpful
Shrimp
Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
ofc! and thats I think why people were recommending to stay away from tapered legs and often skinny legs in the stan ray thread even outside of the sort of 'baggy pants trend' discussion I think you'd kill in some super baggy pants, but even in that silhouette with straight pants its looking great
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
Thank you πŸ₯² I will try and get more baggier pants. I guess part of the reason why I've been leaning into the tapered look as well is because I'm worried about how wider pants will fair while working/doing more outdoorsy activities etc
Shrimp
Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
and take into account who is giving you the advice. i wear some really fuckin baggy pants

Shrimp
Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
imo, baggy pants are even better for outdoor activities and for working depends on what activities/working you do but in general, the bagger the pant, the better mobility you have
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
This is true πŸ€” like sportsmen stuff (or at least I'm trying to lol) so like fishing, hikes, hunting etc wait I have a fit from me fishing recently, I'll post it in here

(the gloves are not apart of the fit, the bait was shellfish and I'm allergic so it was just me being careful) so yeah this is like an example of what I'm doing/trying to do + the vibe
Shrimp
Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
yeah, I think that is super conducive to some wider pants in general work pants that dont have stretch in them tend to be wider cut anyways (and potentially gusseted) because otherwise you'd waddle like a penguin in them
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
very factual πŸ€”

Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
there is a ton of americana up in #waywt if you need inspo
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
we talked about it in a diff thread but I'm trying to plan a trip to left field for like a pair or two of new jeans so if u see any in passing that you think are a wider fit and would suit me lemme know 😎 okie o7

Shrimpβ€’4mo ago
a few favorites are Digs, Casey, Elvander, Damb, and Holfram *amongst many many others definitely, i'll keep an eye out off the top of my head for somewhat standard wide pants I'd recommend carhartt/carhartt wip or levis 501s
ultra
ultraOPβ€’4mo ago
I will check those out. Ive been wanting to get some pants from carhartt for a while tbh o7
