Sportscoat Options

Im wanting to get a sportscoat as i dont have one. Im wondering if getting something like this brown color would be unreasonable as my only sportscoat as i know its commonly suggested to just get the navy blue one

This looks really good to me! If it’s versatile in your closet, I think this could be a great get I love me some texture

you think it would look fine with some beige khakis? i have beige and navy blue khakis and thought that it would pair decently with those

Depends on the beige- two tone outfits will vary a lot depending on how well your two shades of brown match up with each other If it’s those ones I’m not sure it’s going to work great But it will probably be good with most navys

Its also really hard to judge color/tone just from product pics sadly unless its clearly from the same photo session from the same brand because often the lighting/editing can change the way that the color is rendered in the digital image

The lululemon one is hard to tell because they are lighting that thing up too

this is standard advice around here, but look through #waywt for brown jackets and see what orthers are wearing with them for example, elvander wears alot of brown in suiting from: sldeviant in:waywt has:image <---- search that in the top bar

That sport coat looks nice My advice would be to take it slow and consider secondhand when looking for a tailored jacket

only issue i can think of is the material; if the sportcoat is wool it's not going to be pleasant feeling in summer if you allowed yourself 2 - wool herringbone and then something else (navy, brown, etc.) in a lighter fabric you're probably good for the year

also what climate are you living in @CryptoJedi

im in fl so ideally linen i think lol

linen, chino, tropical wool, etc. but you might be able to wear them all year round wouldn't recommend a regular wool/gabardine and would be cautious about how much lining/what kind of lining you have

had a little time to throw a fit together with a wool sportcoat and khakis; the color combo works well but i am dying in the DC heat, so i switched to an unlined gabardine and fared better

if you're florida based and really wanting just ONE jacket get a lightweight one, be it brown, navy or tan give it a while and see how you feel in jackets before getting another one; it's a foreign feeling at first but you can get used to it

yeah definitely wanting to get a lightweight one. thinking i should try to find a tropical wool do you dress up for work or do you just enjoy dressing up frequently? just curious

i dressed up for work at first for the psychological benefit (i wfh and rarely go into the office so it put me in a professional mindset) eventually i found i enjoyed certain aesthetics (mostly ivy but some others) that lent themselves to wearing tailoring and just stuck with it, albeit in less formal or traditional ways

thats awesome dude. id love to get into dressing nicer. ive always wanted to get a suit but could never justify getting one. now that i have a job that requires me to dress at min. business casual, i think its a good time to pull the trigger on at least one and to start to develop out that more professional wardrobe excited for the day i eventually figure out my own sort of style and can make it much more personal

you can start the process of finding your own style right now, by keeping an eye on things like #waywt and #inspiration to see what sorts of fits you like
