New Sales Agent Clothing
I just got a new job selling insurance. I want to look the part and have some nice clothes that show I'm bringing something of value. I'm only 25 and recently had a kid, so I don't have that much money to work with, but I am willing to spend a bit to make sure I look good as I believe it will help the sales. Any advice on tops, bottoms, shoes, accessories, etc I could get and some good retailers that would offer the items would be greatly appreciated!

- does your job have a stated dress code?
- do you have a target budget (plus where are you located, US? EU? elsewhere)?
- are you willing to buy secondhand?
also what kinds of clothes/outfits do you consider "nice" (pictures would be great here)?
business casual at work but when meeting clients would be more professional. was thinking dress shirts, dress pants, blazer and some nice shoes. live in US and target budget would ideally be $500 or less for everything. secondhand would be okay if in good condition and could last me multiple years
for $500 your best bet is going secondhand, either through thrift stores like goodwill/value village or online with ebay
the pain point is going to be finding good shoes
without knowing anything else, i would say aim to get a week's worth of clothes at first, then save up as you keep working and keep seeing how others dress and slowly buy more
what -i- would get (this may differ:
- 5-6 button up shirts (solid color)
- 2-3 chinos/trousers
- pair of dress shoes (if you can find the budget for a second pair somehow even better)
- blazer or suit if you can swing it
check #fashion-guides for the various item guides as they include brand recommendations
I have a pair of tan and a pair of navy trousers from lulu i was gifted a bit ago. I have one white button up. should i just get like 4 more different colored button up shirts to try and pair with that?
there's also several guides on buying secondhand, including online
assuming they fit well, yes. tan and navy go well with most color shirts and a white button up goes well with most bottoms
only other thing i'll say is "business casual" means a lot of things; based on where you work things like jeans and sweaters may be acceptable but i would see how everyone else dresses first
this might be a useful album in terms of putting fits together at some point https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1240355583538761901
awesome dude. thank you very much
what do you think of this order? is this a solid start?
i think it's a solid start. spier and mackay shirts can be a little tight but if you've ordered from them before you should be fine
if you have time here's the latest ebay roundup from put this on; the items are less important than the ebay saved searches he has linked for shirts, tailoring and other clothing https://putthison.com/ebay-roundup-592/

save the search to your ebay, adjust for your size and budget and wait for a deal to come in. the saved searches are filtered with "good quality" brands but if you have a question on a specific item make a new q&a thread about it
awesome. again, thank you. i've never dressed nice so its fun starting to get into it
that's good!
