"Fun" Clothes - Topic of the day 7/28/24
How does fun factor into how you buy and wear clothes? What clothes or brands would you consider to be fun, and when and how do you wear them? Feel free to share pictures of your (or others') fun fits 🎉

life is too short and too hard already to not enjoy wearing your clothes on some internal level
fun brands to me are stuff like story.mfg or ss daley or kapital - a sense of whimsy or lightheartedness or humor in their color choices or textiles or construction techniques
that said plenty of people have fun fits because they're approaching the fit with humor or subversion or in service of something funny outright, and those tend to be my favorite fits on mfad
i would like to point to don fisher for fun bags. they’re all fish!! and they open up to reveal flesh n bone…and storage space. i’ve been looking to get a set that covers a group of fish that eat each other (or are commonly eaten by one bigger fish)
seriously some of my favorites out there i’ll be real
but honestly i like trying to be just as funny as i am cool when i dress
i like silly things, and i’m a silly goofy guy
All clothes have the potential to be fun!
This is why I stopped boxing myself into a specific "aesthetic" years ago - cramming yourself into a specific style every time you get dressed is the exact opposite of fun
I've been inspired by kirby
I got 20 different hats
And 20 different styles Kappa
But in all seriousness I agree that all clothes can be potentially fun as well
I work in retail, so there are definitely more fun pieces than your usual staples or daily drivers. fun can be bright colors than your usual norm or like something that gives excitement like the type the fabric based on the weather or special event. I think it’s the excitement that makes it fun. Like the weekends, I’m gonna wear my fun pants since I’m gonna see my friends (soft butter yellow double knee wide pants) vs. what I wear when I’m wfm (denim) context.
I've gone back to buying shirts with prints because sometimes, graphic tees are fun, actually

Tornado Cardinals Tee 2.0
Hey, Iowa, state your favorite Ames sports team. Tornado Cardinals. Twisters. Sigh, clones? All Great mascot names. This t-shirt represents what could have been if the Ames university chose a different approach to mascot.
Or this cheeky shirt I'm gonna scoop for Halloween https://www.fontenellesupplyco.com/products/live-laugh-love-tee?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=b62560aea&pr_rec_pid=7447183261919&pr_ref_pid=7595381162207&pr_seq=uniform

I sort of separate things in my wardrobe into basics and fun, but it's a loose distinction.
Fun for me is stuff like tie-dye, fun prints, jacquard patterns, etc.
Brands in my wardrobe that I'd call "fun" are Wax London and Haupt.
I find it relatively harder to find fun pants than shirts.
Fun shoes are big for me too. My red Adidas sneakers make any outfit fun.
Sweaters too
Acquiring more fun stuff is a priority for me right now, because I feel like I have the basics covered
i have a handful of 'fun' clothes - mostly things that i thought looked cool at the flea - and i do enjoy sneaking them into otherwise standard (some may say 'basic') fits
people like art and digs and twiggy and elvander in general have an approach to clothes that i'd say is fun in addition to the fits being good on their own (if they disagree then whoops my bad)
also this is hilarous https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1265135789499744278
Some things I consider fun. The last one is interesting to me because the individual pieces aren't fun, but the combination (Birks and tailoring) is.
