Uniqlo U crew neck T-shirt very rough/scratchy

I was hoping y’all could help me out a bit.
I recently did my first purchase from Uniqlo, starting with the U crew neck T-shirts as some wardrobe basic items. (Did not go for the airism models as I saw reviews they stain too easily).
I was surprised to feel texture of the clothes when I first received them. The material felt very heavy (which is good ig, shows their high gsm) and the collar was just fantastic. Common issue for me with tees is the collar loosing shape after a few washes.
But the material felt really scratchy or rough to wear. Is this normal or does the fabric soften after some washes?
Can’t check this myself as then I couldn’t return these items

mine are a couple years old and I've never had a problem. they do have that "vintage" texture you're describing.
I have 2 I don't recall them feeling super scratchy but they definitely are softer now
They're just like that
They get slightly softer over time

I suppose it felt a bit uncomfortable to many as I always go for super soft cotton T-shirts
I can’t deny that the quality is fantastic though
I think I’ll just keep them, I’ll get used to the texture in time

i bought mine recently too for the first time and yes theyre a bit rough and after the first wash they didnt soften up maybe they will over time
supima cotton and airism are a lot softer and also because something is heavyweight does not mean its better quality could just be heavyweight poor quality cotton
