rpm-ostree problem
When I tried to install an application with rpm-ostree install ./mangal.rpm (terminal Manga reader) I tumbled upon an issue.
error: Checkout mangal-4.0.6-1.x86_64: opendir(local): No such file or directory
I found a github post where the person, who has a similar issue. The person (CoreOs member) who replied with a solution for that suggests to make a custom image and replace the /usr/local
link with an actual folder as a solution. Altho it isn't possible with the basic Bazzite except if you build it yourself.20 Replies
the post in github are suggesting you to make custom image not to do it on booted system, it is possible to make custom image using bazzite using https://bazzite.gg/#diy or https://blue-build.org/
Oh
I misinterpreted the issue.
I mean the solution.
It is true.
I am sorry. let me edit the message again lol
also considering the one who replied are member of coreos, it is possible custom image are the only solution
btw which app are you trying to install? i cant find it based on rpm name, but it may have other option other than rpm
Mangal

It is possible to run it without installing it, but it is more convinient to install it, so you can just use the "mangal" command
it also has a docker version, but I have no clue how to install it onto docker in Bazzite.
you can put any binary in .local/bin/ and you can use it like rpm apps
it does have brew also
sometimes it will work in linux too
brew?
You can use brew in Bazzite?
ujust install-brew
if you are using bash or fish most of it will be preconfigured for you, zsh need some manual editing
I did not know that brew was the same brew.
Thank you for informing me.
It works perfectly
yeah not a lot of people know brew work in linux too
It is very useful.
i avoid a lot of layering with brew
I do not know how brew layering work. Matter of fact, I am only close to understanding the stuff I use on linux.
i mean why layer when it can be installed with brew
also brew are installed without layer
I know what does what in a way that I can run stuff to have what I want and remove the things I do not need, but that is about it.
Does that mean, if I make an rpm-layer, brew installed apps will stay no matter what?
I might go back to general or something, because it isn't about the problem anymore.
it wont go away unless you uninstall it explicitly
Noice
Very good
homebrew is installed at /home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew
