gaming mode ends up in black screen and i cant do anything.
i tried crtl+alt+f2 but that didnt really do nothing.

i also did ujust update in the terminal but that still didnt fix the issue

That might be too old for gaming mode, unfortunately
Game mode requires a minimum Vulkan API version, which I'm not sure if your device meets the requirements for

not with gamemode.
you can install desktop version but YMMV
desktop images are 💯
still lack of vulkan will limit a lot of games
oh right
i missed that part that it has no vulkan support
so being stuck with the opengl translation layer for windows games and opengl linux ports on that hardware is not many games
pre GCN so no vulkan support
Yeah, sorry your hardware is far too old
You can still use the desktop version but I can't promise a good experience without functioning Vulkan
Would still be good for openGL titles
