First pair of shoes for office job
Hey all,
I'm buying my first pair of work shoes for the office, and its a role where you are generally required to wear smart casual or business attire. This means suits most days, or on the casual end, it will be a suit trouser and shirt (maybe a jumper or quater zip).
It's going to be my first role, and I'm buying two suits for the office (one navy and one charcoal).
I'm unsure however as to what shoes I should get for my daily wear in the office. I'm currently torn between the two options below. I'm thinking mainly about comfort (as I'll be working long hours in office) and secondly, fashion. Budget wise, I'm willing to go up to around £200.
Option 1:

Option 2:

Any advice or general insights would be great! If you have alternative options i'd be more than willing to hear those out aswell!
Thank you!

Depending on what part of the world you live in, the docs dont quite make it to a smart casual. Especially if you'll be wearing suits
imo 1461s don't really work well with standard suits; their size and profile tend to draw the eye down and mess with the natural break of the pants
i vote loafers, gh bass weejunz are a very good entry level loafer at just under £200 https://www.ghbass-eu.com/collections/mens-penny-loafers?page=1

Hmmm, i hear you guys that makes alot of sense. I'm UK based BTW. I've not seen the 1461s in-person myself so I'll take your word on it.
I guess my other question would be, can loafers work for day-to-day wear in the office? or is it limited to summer only?
These look great. Will check these out
i am only one person but have worn loafers year-round without issue; only time i would wear something else is if it's actively snowing
might be worth checking ebay or thrift stores to see if you can find a deal on a second pair, so you're able to rotate between then
Any recommendations on the loafer styles? I’ve somewhat gravitated to the slightly chunkier look that the Moss ones linked above have
P.s I’m a bigger guy 6foot 100kg (dad bod but more noticeable)
that one is fine - the profile is going to depend on what you wear/personal preference
your size isn't a limitation imo; matty matheson is a very large man who wears dainty opera pumps and looks great
Dope thanks very much
