Need advice on casual shoes for the look I'm going for, more casual but nicer than my usual sweats.
I'm trying to up my casual fashion and so came to this assortment of clothing that seem like reasonable things to wear:
Pleated Linen trousers / chinos
Loafers / leather tennis shoes / suede sneakers
Polos / linen shirts / short sleeve wool button ups
But I'm interested in two pairs of shoes that would be casual and fit with the more light colored pants (chinos, linen, or whatever else) and one that is also casual but fits with darker pants(athletic loose linen blend fixed waist pant for example, I ordered tone of the darker and lighter options) I was thinking of the Stone Gray(look at it, it's a little different than that) Suede sneakers from Banana Republic, but not sure what the other shoe option would be to cover all my bases. Thanks.

Also would the Banana Republic Stone Gray Suede Sneaker go with dark pants and light pants?
pictures of the shoes and your general inspiration would be helpful
might want to check #waywt or #inspiration as there's a lot of fits featuring things like pleated trousers or linen shirts (either to find inspo or to see what other shoes are being worn)
Would these work with darker and lighter pants?
they should but it depends largely on the pants
could probably go for an lighter color - off white vans authentics have a similar low profile but are less expensive
in theory yes
the way to know for sure is to try them on together
and to your other question you could easily wear loafers casually
Also what kind of belt would go with those shoes you think?
Woven?
But what color?
whatever your preference
gonna advise against buying shoes from banana republic
or any mall clothing company for that matter
Expand
in short, shoes are best made by shoe companies
they have little arch support and are poor build
source - person who wore BR common projects knockoffs for ages then switched to vans authentics and loafers
Makes sense, any idea where to get a good quality suede sneaker?
adidas handball spezial also comes to mind
Thoughts on this?
Also can a shoe this color be worn with pants these colors?
And any ideas where to get good chinos?
second question first - it will depend on your budget
$ - uniqlo, abercrombie, j.crew on discount, vintage polo ralph lauren on ebay
$$ - black ficus (online), casatlantic (also online)
$$$ - mainline ralph lauren, evan kinori, scott fraser collection
and to your first question i'm not a fan of the shoe/jean combination; i would probably look for a less saturated color
might find some ideas from some of the threads in inspiration https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1262439085272989889 https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1117803378521673768/1255702370541633647
Yeah I think some visuals of what look you’re going for are gonna be helpful here
Not necessarily the color pattern, but the theme
(Not the shoes on one below)
germany army trainers would work well imo
plenty of brands sell them including adidas
These are Peter Millar(never heard of them)
Thoughts?
peter millar is a (mediocre imo) clothing company, i would not trust them with shoes
Real
I don’t know if that look is my favorite, preferring more like in this photo (no clue what they are)
Appreciate y’all
how much of the clothing in your first post do you currently own, out of curiosity
Not much, my wardrobe consists of primarily lots of dress clothes for lots of religious events, and sweats + long sleeves and tshirts.
And a good few sweaters, with like one pear of dark blueish chinos
Did recently get a few polos tho
i would take this process slowly - sometimes people have an idea about what kind of clothes they want to wear then buy an entire wardrobe of it only to dislike it afterwards
maybe buy a pair of pants (the cream or the navy, either one) and a pair of german army trainers and then just see how they feel and how they look with your polos and stuff
Respectable, but the only having sweatpants and tshirts to wear in public gets old
I do like polos, pretty convinced of that.
rome wasn't built in a day 👍
Any other shoe ideas of similar variety to what we'v ebeen discussing?

since you're just starting out it's helpful to have reference points for what you want to look like
#inspiration helps, seeing other people's fits in #waywt or on social media helps, seeing people wearing the clothes on product listings helps
you can make the connections of what people are wearing with the items to form actual fits, and then use that to decide what to buy next
Appreciated bro, you mind a DM?
if it's related to this it's probably better to post here so more people can answer
Moreso related to general fashion thoughts but fair enough but also a motivation thing that I'd prefer to say in DM (no push)
