PC specs to run server

I’m trying to locally host a server on my gaming PC for just a few people on an SMP. I might make it modded. I have an AMD ryzen 3700x, 16gb 3600 ram, and an nvidia 2060 super. Is this an okay system to run a server throughout the day with good performance whilst allowing me to still be able to play without issues? Or should I buy some more ram OR an older system?

just a few people should be FINE on 16gb im not sure about mods, but thats more than enough and cpu-wise you should be fine, but i reccomend using Chunky to pre-generate chunks overnight instead of letting your players do it while youre using your computer, stealing your CPU

I mean what dude above said is right but obviously you can't allocate all 16GB to your server if it's just a few people, and you don't have a shit ton of background processes, start with 8 oh and, install a panel unless you want to beat your head against the wall with screen

Luckily this is one of three plug ins I have installed so far Not sure what you mean by this? Like an alternative to the regular interface of the command prompt?

yeah, a panel is like a webserver for server stats and commands and logs and backups and the sort

a panel is an administrative software

you really don't need more ram if you're only using this for a single server running a server on command prompt is so scuffed

he literally put his hardware in the post if he's gonna get a new computer for his bday it would just be a computer for personal use because it sounds like this one is fine for a minecraft server

make sure your server is well optimized, managed, and you should be perfectly fine running it on your computer. allocate like, 8 GB of RAM, or a couple lower if you have other system requirements, and you should be good. godspeed to you and your server! also, if you dont like the command prompt, use a panel plugin. there really isnt a difference and its super helpful for a first-timer

New one would just be for a server and my current pc would be to game on my own. However I don’t know if it would run better if I went for a cheap dell with integrated graphics versus just using my current pc even though it would be juggling my gameplay at the same time, but maybe allocating some money into my own system would be better worth it

graphics have near no effect on a mc server

that's just not true lol if he's just running a small server for his friends command prompt would work fine no point in installing a panel Where do you live? If in America you can probably get something cheap like 100 bucks

Installing craftycontroller at least would be a simple solution to at least have some form of administrative control outside of just command prompt
