Computer hangs completely right after logging in (Wayland)
I am having an issue with bazzite-nvidia-stable KDE wayland. Everything boots up fine, and when I log in I get a completely black screen and my computer becomes 100% unresponsive. I've tried swapping displayport inputs and things but nothing works.
I can't type ctrl+alt+f2 to get terminal, it's just completely broken.
This also happens from a bootable usb drive. I've tried with both ventoy and fedora image writer.
When I use X11 everything seems to work.
PC Specs:
- nvidia 3090
- AMD 5950x
nvidia driver version: 555.58.02

Have you tried using the X11 session?
Yes, X11 works, I have that in the OP
I want to use wayland for HDR + VRR
The problem is Nvidia HDR under KDE Wayland
You'll have to wait for it to be fixed, it's not our bug
That crashes the entire PC? I had just rebased from maybe last april and it was working fine before i did that
yep
you can fix it by forcing HDR off
I'd even disable HDR to get wayland to work, but i dont know how to do it via my X11 session
I'll see if I can find the steps
Just to confirm this is HDR related, isn't HDR disabled by default from a live USB?
state of HDR is whatever KDE says HDR should be
we don't change it
I think in the past it has always been toggled off, but I can't confirm it at the moment from this USB.
BTW: Someone else seems to be having the same issue on github https://github.com/ublue-os/bazzite/issues/1369

Black screen on SDDM/Wayland on first boot with Nvidia card · Issue...
Describe the bug Fresh installation of latest bazzite-nvidia (I believe currently on version 3.5.1), boots into black screen. This seems to be another Wayland <-> Nvidia compatibility problem...
Also seeing this, which might indicate it's a KDE issue

I changed that json file in the .config file and it didn't fix it.
changed it to turn HDR off
have you tried disabling hdr on the screen/screens and rebooting?
I can try that. I wasn't able to get to any settings menu while it's broken because it's just looking for signal
My monitor doesn't have the option to disable HDR
