looking for a minimalist/thin wallet
I’m looking to get a new wallet. I will regularly carry 4-6 cards, occasionally up to 8 but no more. Also need to carry cash. I know that leather is classy and looks better but I feel like all the leather wallets I’ve had have fallen apart and not lasted, as well as being bulky (although I need to do a wallet purge more frequently I’ll admit). Currently looking at this one by allett

I’ve done some cursory googling to glean what I can from people online and folks seem to really like this, say that it lasts a while. I would go with black if I got this. Would love to hear thoughts from other people.

Ehh probably more like 6 cards normally
Decent leather will not fall apart but is a bit more expensive than the one you linked. Do you have a budget in mind?
I'm not sure I believe in thin wallets anymore. 6 cards and a wad of cash imposes a lower limit on how thin it can possibly be.
Yeah that’s after going through and reducing the amount of cards I need to carry on a consistent basis but it’s hard because not every establishment takes card or they’ll take card but only if you buy enough. Similarly some things I need a card for but it won’t work from the digital wallet (specifically buying a fare card. Won’t work with Apple pay or digital wallets so I need the physical card)
Not specifically at the moment. I know saddleback leather makes good products but the wallets seem pretty thick without putting stuff in them and I have to fit them in my front pocket
punch a hole in the corner of every card and wear them on a carabiner
If I could put my insurance cards and library card in my digital wallet that would bring me down a few cards. My state started mobile IDs but it’s still recent so I don’t know if places are even on board with that yet. Have to check if my bank will let me withdraw cash if I put my debit card on the digital wallet that would be another card I can get rid of

maybe something from bellroy
depends if your cards have raised text mainly
obligatory nice but overpriced according to some gear heads
I like their card sleeve. I use one that’s roughly an identical design but from an older manufacturer. Minimal size for how much it holds
Do you mean this might be a good choice, but not if I have cards with raised text?
Possibly. 4-6 cards should be OK. Up to 8 cards on occassion might struggle. See this video for a visual example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyF8-f07qRg&list=TLGGjAz3aJUvtV4xNTA3MjAyNA&t=1s

The guy puts up to 8 blank cards into the wallet and a note

That one is sick but doesn’t look as conducive to carrying both cash and card. Though it looks nice for say a wallet to use on a night out where you know you’re using card the whole time
popov makes really well built leather wallets. their id wallet is fairly slim and can hold like 6-8 cards depending on how much you stretch the leather out
I've had their original leather wallet for the past 8 years and I've been happy with it. I carry about 6 cards usually but rarely any cash
Before I started doing leatherwork myself I actually used ridge wallets for a while
I think those tend quite small since there’s very little extra bulk
Also doesn’t get sweaty in summer
Unsure if you're only looking at traditional wallets, but I only carry 4-5 cards, and sometimes a few bills backup. Love only having a card holder now (can shove cash in the middle); and they're cheaper (and last a long time when you don't do much with it).
This was years ago, but I got a couple of Ed Charly card holders on Kickstarter. Some brands try to fund new ideas on there + there's always someone new.
I’d otherwise probably try to stick to a cardholder if you want to minimize thickness
But that limits to like 6 cards max, and maybe only a bill or two of cash
I did a little bit of research on a small wallet a few years ago and ended up with Taylor Stitch’s minimalist wallet. I think I’ve been using it for 2.5 years and it’s holding up well, and it is a much smaller profile than my old wallets.
