What’s the best Server Jar for 20 Player‘s?
Hi everyone,
I have a question about choosing the right jar for my Minecraft server. In my friend group, we have about 20 players, and we mainly want to use the Simple Voice Chat Plugin/Mod.
I know that Fabric is one option, but I’ve also heard that we could use Paper for this. Which of the two options would you recommend or is there another one? What are the pros and cons of each approach, especially regarding performance? We running the server on a 4vCPU‘s with 8GB of RAM
Thanks in advance for your help!

Depends on a number of things.
Paper is more performant by far than Fabric, however sacrifices vanilla functionality (so if you want to build farms they may not work).
Fabric doesn't sacrifice vanilla functionality and isn't as performant but mods like Lithium & FerriteCore certainly help.
Also depends on your hardware (4vCPUs of what?)
Thanks for the fast response!
Vanilla functionality is important to us because we want to build big farms:PepeLaugh: , but performance is also crucial so that everyone can have a good time. We're using AMD CPUs from DigitalOcean, but they don’t provide detailed specs beyond having 4 vCPUs.
Given this setup, do you think Fabric with performance mods like Lithium and FerriteCore would be sufficient, or would Paper be a better choice despite potential sacrifices in vanilla functionality?
assuming the AMD CPU has good singlethread, you should realistically be fine as long as you pregenerate
i hope your doing digital ocean due to free credit
i'm assuming you're using a VPS
because else its god awful

Yep!
realistically shared hosting is the way to go
digitial ocean has had the worst performance ive seen ever
drive related, and more
20 players you might struggle
So using chuncky? What is a good distance of spawn I should pregenerate?
yeah, using chunky
10k is a good radius
make sure you do nether (1/8 of the overworld pregen) and end (~7.5k is usually fine, your choice)
Thank you all for the help!
