i don't think PCs have been manufactured with USB 1.0 in like 20 years USB 2.0 is the most common "slow" one this is likely a hardware issue with whatever USB to SATA adapter you're using

nah but i have a usb 1.0 cable here it has that white line in it but its just the cable thats 1.0 i think its like this old little silver casing to put the disk in and then it has a weird port and on the other end it has a usb 1.0 port

it's probably not, USB is digital if it recognizes it at all it's not a cable or port problem

yeah but it's not gonna be able to get the full ssd speed if the usb is too slow no?

but like i said, USB 1.0 is a very dead technology and the cables use the same wiring as USB 2.0

so 2.0 should be good?

the colors are not a hard indication of support

when they make them a different color there's no law that says you have to color USB ports any particular way USB 3 ports will be labeled "SS" and physically have more wires if you look inside the port back to USB 2, it's limited to 60MB/s so no you will not get the full SSD speed what exactly do you mean by it appears as a HDD and not a SSD
