kinda dumb. But since we really only have a 2D matrix, should we just have a single akmods build action? We lose a build button which is a negative, but it will technically save on one builder

you want to not have distinct f39/f40 builds?
unsure, it would mean only one file to manage and everything is being declared in the matrix section.
i made the split across multiple repos because often there seem to be release (39 vs 40) specific issues which require rebuilds and when that happens it saves on a chunk of builders
i could be convinced with arguments to change it back, but saving on one builder doesn't seem like the winning argument 🙂
yeah, i think its better to do the split given how big the resulting matrix ends up being and we would only have to rebuild only one major version at a time
yeah, that was the motivation for the split, i was looking for a logical split such that rebuilds could be done in smaller chunks
