Sentry or Axiom? or both?
Whats sentry good at? Where should I use axiom instead?
Or, can I use both, and if yes, how?
My main goal is to set up alerts when requests fail in my
pages/api
endpoint, and if any frontend page breaks; how can I achieve this in the best way?2 Replies
disclaimer: i work for axiom
they serve different purposes.
if your main goal is error monitoring, especially in the frontend, sentry is by far the best tool for that. we use it internally at axiom as well.
if your main goal is (mostly backend) observability, ie large amounts of logs and traces, precise querying based on them, building dashboards and monitors, etc. axiom is a great choice. ingesting 1M spans costs $50 with sentry, pennies with axiom.
for large applications, a great setup is sentry (error monitoring) + axiom (observability) + posthog (analytics). currently no single service gets anywhere close to doing a good job at full coverage of this stuff.
wow that makes sense. thanks a lot for helping me out here!!
