last_active is constantly changing but there is no mouse movement
Any clues? I used to use this sensor as a timeout for shutting down the PC. I checked and Move Mouse isn't running, or anything else like that AFAICT. Is there better sensor to use for this purpose?

what else would "provide input"?
Specifics of computer? Laptop? Input devices attached?
Win 11 desktop. wired mouse, Blue USB microphone, wireless keyboard, Stream Deck and wireless headset. no bluetooth.
i unplugged the keyboard and mouse. still kept changing
on my other PC, i have the same input devices, but it only updates when i type or move my mouse
Hmm, I mean when I had this issue I unplugged every single peripheral and it started working, meaning one of them was problematic. I would recommend trying that, but it sounds like it may be something else.
Are there any big differences between the systems?
my wife's pc (the one misbehaving) is not very well taken care of haha
she added some VPN stuff recently
otherwise i set up all the IOT stuff same as mine
Does the PC go to sleep?
both PCs are setup to never sleep, never lock, never screensaver. i like to control all that from HA
Can U try putting the sleep on lowest for win11(Idk what that is) and see if it goes to sleep?
yeah
If it doesn't then we know it's some program or something triggering
Obvsly if it's 10 mins give it 12ish
set it to 1 minute
wierd... it's "off" but it's not
the screens just turned off but the STream Deck is still on/active
HA Agent is still changing
haha
all sensors are still on so i don't know what weird state it's in. i'm guessing screens off only
In Ur power plan U must have it set to that, its all good tho, that means it's probably not something specific.
@Amadeo any ideas?
Is it the stream deck?
i just unplugged EVERYTHING from her PC. it's still ticking
i also closed down all system tray apps
My wireless keyboard produces inputs/events even if only dongle is plugged in
And it doesnt go to sleep
I mean the device that the dongle os plugged in
I dug into the code and what happens with this sesnor is that it gets "last input" of any kind from system
is there any way to debug which apps would cause it?
i did a Windows Update and full cold start of her machine and it seems to be behaving normally now
re: dongles - i removed all the dongles, too
I don't think so, the winapi call only give the "calculated timestamp"
this has stabilized btw - haven't had the issue since i updated Win 11 on her machine and did 1-2 reboots
