Bluetooth controller not registering correctly

Hi - I'm running the desktop version of Bazzite 3.5.
I have an 8bitdo Ultimate contoller that has both BT and 2.4g options. When I connect via BT, the controller shows up in Bazzite as a Pro Controller and I'm able to see button presses registered when testing with the KDE Game Controller util. However, the status LEDs in the front (1-4) never light up to indicate a succesful connection. When I try to use the controller with Steam, it states "unknown controller support"
If I switch to 2.4g connection then the first status light goes green and Steam switches to "Mostly Playable with your controller." The frustrating part is that BT used to work correctly several months ago and I'd prefer to use that method so that my 2.4G dongle can be used elsewhere. Any suggestions on how to further troubleshoot this? Thanks,

Hm, let me check the manual - I wasn't aware that this controller had that option (I know the SN30 for example does that sort of thing.)

Doesn't it have a small switch behind? That maybe another model but have a look BTW I also get the unknown controller in steam but everything works without tinkering

Yes, the small switch on the back toggles between bt and 2.4G, with 2.4G being the x-input option I think no other options for changing that as far as I can tell holding B didn't have an effect in either mode unfortunately. I saw in the release notes that some changes were made with 3.5 and bt connections, and was hopeful that it might have been the fix I needed the move from 2.x ->3 was where I noticed it got off

the Ultimate Bluetooth controller only has 2.4 GHz mode (xinput) and bluetooth (Switch). I don't believe there's a way to change input modes beyond that I use bt mode with my Deck and 2.4 mode with my desktop check to see that Steam has Switch controller support enabled

I have "Enable Steam Input for Switch Pro controllers" turned on in settings. Maybe another clue - I went into Steam's Calibration and Advanced settings/ LED Settings and forced the player slot LED to be on. It's indicating that BT is using the 2nd player slot, which is probably what's causing issues with many of my games. Maybe? Using 2.4G gives me the first player slot and things work as expected. perhaps something is interfering and forcing it to use slot 2 instead of 1? In bluetooth mode it doesn't show up on that website. Switching to 2.4G mode and it's listed as a "2dc8-3106-8BitDo Pro 2 Wired Controller" and all the buttons work correctly.
