NVIDIA having pretty serious issues

I'm having all sorts of serious glitches and problems using nvidia where steam is crashing and windows are fullscreening incorrectly etc. this screenshot is one example. Does anyone have any ideas for what I could do to improve this? https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1dt0wlj/comment/lb6dkio there is this comment on reddit suggesting that a few kernel command lines might improve things. i've tried adding these to the default grub file but updating doesn't add them to the grub menu. is there something i can do to make it so that grub adds these or is there soemthing else i can do to help make things better?
