Create a shortcut to a specific app in Waydroid in Game Mode
I was able to get Waydroid set up and use the /usr/bin/waydroid-launcher shortcut to get a full session working in gamescope
Hardware I am using: Steam Deck OLED 1TB
Ideal state: I would like to open directly into an android application in gamescope like I can on desktop.
Is it possible to create a shortcut to just one app in game mode? I see that Waydroid creates shortcuts in desktop mode, but they do not work if they are added to gamscope, they just create a black screen or crash when launched.
I tried the custom command after /usr/bin/waydroid-launcher like it does for the desktop shortcuts and that did not work either.

@Kyle Gospo @HikariKnight any thoughts on this?
I don't use waydroid and couldnt get the launch all directly to even work on desktop so idk
it should be possible if the waydroid-container is running in the background. That being said, the waydroid-launcher is setup to always fully start/stop the container.
basically run waydroid-container in the background, then the direct app shortcuts should work in gamescope-session
This is to avoid it living in the background
In gaming mode especially
yep, i actually prefer it this way
but for Noel's request, he'll need to purposefully run it in the background
i've found that running the container in the background can lead to buggy behavior sometimes, so i prefer the full start/stop that the launcher enforces
Ahhh ok. So the container needs to be running before switching to game mode. Sounds like it might be a little too buggy to be reliable.
It's a service, it starts at boot and stays in the background
But we avoid that so you're not running an entire copy of Android at all times
That's what the launcher does
Ohhhh ok.
Yeah. For more intense games, having android running in the background would probably be less than ideal.
