Need help with new style
I wear very athletic fits everyday and will continue to do so but recently got an internship. I'll be going into senior year so I'll only need need clothes for approximately 2 days a week. I'm 5'9-10 and weigh 125 lbs. I do run competitively so my thighs and calfs are larger which makes some fits very uncomfortable. I don't know my measurements and don't really have a place close to try things on so some guesswork is in play. The style I'm going for is attached in pictures. I shop deals and shop on poshmark alot so most brands are fine but I don't want designers or $200 Oxford button downs. Shoes are taken care of. Thanks!

Measurements are easy, use the clothes that you have and a measuring tape, then compare those to size charts online or if you're buying secondhand you can just ask the seller for the same measurements.
What type of clothes woukd you recommend I measure? I have everything from very skinny to baggy fits. My 1 button down is not the best fitting, so unsure if that woukd be a good piece to measure. I'm not 100% hiw these types of clothes are supposed to fit.
You can def use the button down as a sort of baseline so you aren't buying totally blind, but the measurements are also useful across garments for your chest, waist, and inseam
Fit is something that's very personal, tho, and will vary based on the vibes you want for each outfit.
measure the ones you like the most
I'll do that tomorrow!
What's sorts of brands/colors/items should I be looking to buy once I have the measurements
if ur just starting you probably want relatively neutral colors mostly but if you like bright colors you can always grab some of those too. like blacks, blues, greens, browns, greys. colors that are hard to mess up (and notice these are the colors pictured by you). as far as brands go hard to say really it's just whatever is in your budget range + you like the fit of. someone else would be better suited to talking brands with who can give you suggestions for that look
as far as items go buy whatever you think looks good to you (though not all at once, no need to rush)
looks like you enjoy pullover/crewneck sweaters based on the images for example
I found it easier to style and make it loom put together
Yea all at once woukd be a bit pricy. I have a month
ya i mean whatever you like, can't go wrong with a crewneck or a quarter zip or something
is there like an event in a month or something you're thinking of in particular or why the month time limit
That's when the internship starts
oh gotcha it's for a workplace
well you're gonna want to know the dress code then
I have a friend who works there and told me that the pictures that I shared were the standard dress code. That's why I choose those pictures over some others. He didn't know anything about style because his parents just bought him stuff and he had no clue what anything was
i see ok
well you probably want a button up and some chinos for sure, those are very safe options for a workplace
Well, you've got a lot of ralph lauren in those inspo pics and there is no shortage of prl to be found secondhand, tho a month is a short time frame to do that.
Uniqlo & jcrew are decent options for the pieces you've posted in the budget you provided.
And is there a color matching guide? Something like, is the zip-up supposed to match the dress shirt. Or what colors mix and match well with pants+shirts+q zips
I've also seen alot of people argue about fabrics. Is that more of a personal thing?
for color matching i like this guide as a primer but you can also get a lot of insight by copying other people's outfits ( #waywt and #inspiration amongst other places) https://malefashionadvice.substack.com/p/understanding-color
Understanding color
Getting started: the basic advice guides
fabric choice to a degree involves personal preference (do you run hot or cold? do you have skin sensitivity?)
i would generally recommend natural fabrics (ex. cotton, linen, wool) in your tops and bottoms as they tend to offer greater comfort, durability, and breatability
