device is active error Rog Ally
I disabled secure boot and after I got the error I disabled fast boot. Seems like it doesn’t work

Typically this means that Windows is hibernated and it locks the drive, boot into windows again, and select restart instead of shutdown and continue the install from there.
i had to delete windows 😐
im using the cloud recovery now to get windows back and hopefully try again
so i want to restart then go into bios select to boot from the usb and do it again ?
Have a look at this solution https://discord.com/channels/1072614816579063828/1245437335722524684/1245473409920536616
Doesn't look like this user needed to reinstall windows first
i assumed it deleted everything when i did the reclaim, so i have to remove them from existance huh ?
It probably removed something that stopped windows from booting but it failed to removed the Windows partition because it's hibernated
Which really doesn't help
You could probably also make a new GPT partition table from GParted and try again
I’m trying again now
Good luck 🤞
The GParted is where I try to put install path ?
Sorry I’m really Linux noob
If i get it right i have to press delete on the bitlocker and p1 p2 ?
Gparted is a partition management tool that it available in virtually any live distro like Ubuntu/Mint/Fedora etc. If you want to remove Windows completely you can probably do it from there.
It looks like this
How can use it here
Bazzite is not installed and neither windows anymore
Unfortunately Atomic desktops don't have a live distro mode
So I have to install windows then ?
And then redo it ?
If you have a desktop/laptop you can just create a live linux usb and boot that, fix this issue and then install Bazzite. Alternatively, you could install Windows again make sure it's not hibernated and repeat the install
How can I make sure it’s not hibernated ?
Restart with fast boot off and go into usb setup ?
Open a powershell as admin in Windows and run
powercfg.exe /hibernate off
this will disable Windows hibernate entirely
But I think it will be simpler removing the partitions in Gparted with a live distroI don’t have another usb to put a Linux distribution in
How big is your USB drive?
If it's quite big, just use Ventoy. Then you can put on how every many bootable ISO files that you want
32 gb already flashed in with bazzite
How big is that distro to use Gpart
Bazzite is about 8.3GB, Windows 10/11 is about 6GB and most distros are about 4GB
Ok the windows thing became weird
What distro to download to use the part thing
Ubuntu/Mint or Fedora or the Gparted live iso https://gparted.org/livecd.php
I have no idea what I did but after the bitlocker thing failed on ASUS cloud recovery the parts are gone
And now installation works
:thonk:
ummm ok?? That's weird
I will wait to see how it goes hopefully it’s all ok
So I installed the things I wanted from decky it restarted and now it’s on this black screen
Does CTRL+ALT+F2/3/4/5 do anything?
Did you sign into Steam when you were in desktop mode?
No but now I did after restart
All seems good now
That's good news 🙂
Thanks for all the help
You are welcome.
