Hi, conflict of interest based question here and curious of thoughts on the matter. I am looking to work for a competitor J1 of one of the companies I work for, one company focuses on a specific space in IT and the other new J2 s a broader paint stroke of IT management software that includes the subset of IT of the J1, though the job function is very similar it seems. Please let me know your thoughts, things I should know before accepting an offer. Long live OE. Also, any tips on negotiating salary? I am worried.

I think the only risk is getting caught and if the companies really do want to pursue litigation. In many cases we have never seen this to be the case. I believe you should be Ok from an execution standpoint As for negotiating salary, the easiest way is getting a competing offer Otherwise mentioning things like leaving a bonus off the table or RSU off the table can also nab some extra compensation

@mangosteen are you saying that is because its not worth the bite? my TC would increase by almost 40%. The fallout plan is that if I lose both of those due to competitors, etc etc. I can look for other jobs and keep my J1, which is my favourite job.
