gaseous state

The density of a substantce at 1 atm pressure and 773K is 0.4g/lit. If the molecular weight of the substance is 30 the forces existing among the molecules are repulsive or attractive. Acc to my calculations compressibility factor turns out to be less than 1 thus forces should be attractive. Answer is repulsive tho, someone pls explain

If compressibility factor (z) < 1 then Vreal must be less than Videal If V real is less than v ideal then the gas particles must be attracting each other rather than repelling as repelling would essentially mean particles are going further away .
